EnidLIVE! sat down with NOC Enid’s President Emeritus Dr. Joe Kinzer and NOC-Enid President Diana Watkins to discuss the 25th Anniversary and what led us up to this point.

Watkins spoke about some of the highlights saying ” we recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of Jet Baseball” She went on to say  “of course their national championship win has to go on the top of the list of exciting memories of NOC-Enid”.

Watkins also praised the Planetarium “I’ve got some really fond memories of the program that Fritz Ossell and his crew does as well”. She went on to say “when they did the unveiling of the new NASA spacecraft, they did that there live”.

Dr. Kinzer spoke about being selected to be president of the Enid campus when it opened.

“It’s been great, I was pleased and honored to be the president of Northern when we acquired the campus. Of course, our goal at Northern is to provide the best learning environment we could with the resources we had in our area,” Kinzer said. We were very pleased to be able to have that for the students in the Enid area.”

Dr. Kinzer also spoke about the Campus celebrating 25 years.

“I think it’s incredible and I plan to be there to enjoy it with everyone. I haven’t been on campus for a while, so I look forward to that,” Kinzer said. “I know the changes they’ve made through the years have been great, and I look forward to seeing it again.”

Dr. Kinzer was happy to share one of his favorite moments from his years at NOC.

“There [was] a lot. We were able to establish a campus that not only had students there but had sports [as well]. So we started the baseball program there and all kinds of sporting events as well. We were able to make that a complete campus even though we had very limited resources to work with.”
