According to a press release made by Enid Public Schools, EPS has announced its qualification for a program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students enrolled beginning August 2025 through May 2029.
The EPS administration has been working on securing the program for Enid Public Schools for several months and received confirmation of being a recipient in early July. Students receiving no-charge meals must be enrolled at any EPS school for the next four years.
The program is known as the Community Eligibility Provision and is for schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
EPS Child Nutrition Director, Kelly Craig, wanted to share his excitement for the program.
“We are thrilled to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students in our district,” Craig said. “This program helps ensure that every child starts the day ready to learn, without the worry of hunger. Also, with the reduction in paperwork, this will let us focus on providing nutritional meals to our students.”
EPS Superintendent, Dr. Dudley Darrow, also spoke on the program.
“80% of EPS students qualify for free and reduced meals,” Darrow said. “Our staff has been working hard the last few months to make this happen, and this should be incredibly impactful to the Enid community. We are happy to provide this support to our families.”
Families will receive a letter from the district confirming their students as eligible to receive free meals for this coming school year.
