Enid Noon AMBUCS Donkey Basketball is making its grand return to the Stride Bank Center on Saturday, Nov. 22.
In this unforgettable showdown, witness local teams face-off against each other on the basketball court while riding donkeys! Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the games will begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $20 at the door with proceeds benefiting the Enid Noon AMBUCS Amtryke Program, which helps inspire mobility and independence for children and adults with disabilities.
The evening will consist of the following format:
- Two 16-minute elimination games
- 15-minute intermissions between games
- One 8-minute championship round to crown the winner-sponsored by Tiger Pawn and Jewelry
EnidLIVE! invited Kegan Tuohy from Enid Noon AMBUCS to discuss this one-of-a-kind event.
Tuohy shared some information about the teams.
“[The game] probably depends on the donkey…so it’s probably somewhat of a free-for-all, but we’ve got a couple of teams. The Enid Police Department and the Enid Fire Department will definitely be an interesting rivalry. And then we’ve got a team of teachers and administrators from Enid Public Schools.”
Tuohy shared all the places that the raised funds will go towards.
“And all this goes toward a good cause, as I’m sure you would suspect. At Enid Noon AMBUCS, our mission is [to provide] mobility. So we give out custom-made tricycles or bicycles for people [who] maybe have some sort of ailment and you can’t ride a normal bike. So it’s a very niche mission, but it goes toward mobility. And then scholarships for physical therapists as well. So all the money goes toward a good cause. And it’ll be a fun night [with] a lot of laughter.”
