Feb 24 (Reuters) – Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk plans to slash U.S. list prices of its blockbuster diabetes and weight-loss drugs Ozempic and Wegovy by up to 50% starting next year, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

Novo Nordisk will cut the list prices for the first time, especially to reduce high out-of-pocket costs for patients enrolled in high-deductible health plans or pay coinsurance that is a percentage of list price, the report said, quoting executives.

Both Ozempic and Wegovy will list for $675 a month, effective January 1, which is half the current price for Wegovy and a 34% cut for diabetes treatment Ozempic, according to the report.

The price cuts also will apply to pill versions of both injections, including one sold as Rybelsus, the report said.

The effective date of Novo Nordisk’s price cuts will coincide with the implementation of new, lower prices for the same drugs under federal Medicare health plans for older adults.
