Trump asks Congress for $1 billion to boost pensions of former GM parts company workers

WASHINGTON, June 24 (Reuters) – The White House asked Congress on Wednesday for $1 billion to boost the pensions of workers at former General Motors auto parts unit Delphi that were cut during the Detroit automaker’s 2009 bankruptcy restructuring.

The White House is also asking for $500 million to support ongoing construction projects in and around Washington and $1 billion to assist to reconstruct New York’s Penn Station. The White House also wants Congress to let the Federal Aviation Administration reallocate any funds in the $12.5 billion air traffic control modernization effort to any air traffic reform plan.
