WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump says a new breakthrough in Gaza could end the cycle of war.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump hailed what he calls the “historic” agreement reached by the Board of Peace for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza. He argues this is a major step toward lasting peace and security-one that would ensure Gaza is no longer used as a base for terror attacks.
Trump says the plan follows carefully structured phases. As disarmament is completed, he says Israeli forces would withdraw, and an International Stabilization Force would work alongside a new Palestinian police force to take responsibility for keeping Gaza safe for residents and neighboring communities.
The president linked the agreement to the implementation of his Trump 20-Point Plan, calling it a critical milestone after months of devastation. He noted that a year ago there was a raging war, a humanitarian crisis, and hostages held in brutal captivity.
Trump also credited the mediators-Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye-and thanked his “outstanding team” for making what he calls a breakthrough possible. He warned that the threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to rebuild.
The president’s supporters say the core takeaway is clear: lasting security requires power-real enforcement of disarmament-and a governing authority able to maintain order, not simply more negotiations or temporary cease-fires. If the phases deliver on disarmament and real security control, Gaza could finally shift from terror logistics to governance under Palestinian leadership-backed by international support and accountability.
