September Jobs Report Below Expectations

SHARE NOW

(WASHINGTON) The September jobs report came in below expectations, with employers adding 29,000 jobs-down from 162,000 in August and short of the roughly 84,000 economists had forecast. The unemployment rate edged up slightly, from 4.1% to 4.2%. The numbers point to a cooling labor market, giving the Trump administration and Republicans a fresh opening to argue that the economy needs policies focused on stronger growth and job creation.
