The Enid Police Department has released a statement regarding vehicle headlights.
Every motor vehicle must have at least two headlights emitting a white light and have one lamp on each side of the front.
Headlights are required to be in use while driving from 30 mins after sunset to 30 mins before sunrise. They must also be in use in insufficient light or unfavorable atmospheric conditions when viewability is 1,000 ft or less. This includes overcast conditions and other forms of inclement weather.
When a driver of a vehicle approaches an oncoming vehicle within 1,000 ft, they should use the vehicle’s low beams. When approaching a vehicle from behind, low beams must be used within 600 ft.
Front fog lamps may be used in conjunction with low beam headlamps but cannot be used in substitution of them.
