Garfield County Sheriff Cory Rink recently had an interview with Enidlive. There were multiple things to talk about during the interview. Sheriff Rink started by talking about the school year starting up again this week and wanted to advise motorists to be extra cautious when approaching a school bus.
He states, “If you see a school bus, and they stopped on the road . . . and have their red lights on and their stop sign out make sure you stop for that stop sign because those kids are loading, or unloading . . . and those little kids will take off running sometimes. So be aware of those students getting off the school bus.”
The 2nd item of discussion was the Garfield County Fair, which is happening from September 6th to 10th. The sheriff’s department will be out there to respond to emergencies, and will also have a booth set up.
Sheriff Rink states the department’s involvement with the fair: “We’ll be out there walking around periodically . . . we’ll have a booth; I’ll have some people out there passing information out for fraud, welfare, and senior fraud, things like that. So just come out and see us.”
The last item of discussion was the retirement of some police dogs at the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Rink shared his sentiment towards the K-9s: “We’ve got a couple good ones, but we do have a couple coming in to replace them. Right now the guys are out training with them; so far it seems like they’re enjoying their time together cause that right there is a relationship between my deputy and that K-9. It’s a relationship that they get to know each other and they’re a part of the family, so it’s sad to see them go.”
