With the 4th of July coming up the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department issued some reminders on the county’s 4th of July ordinances in a Facebook post. It is illegal to shoot off fireworks within 500 feet of crops, schools, hospitals, churches, or where fireworks are sold or stored.
Lighting fireworks is legal on private property with the permission of the owners, however, fireworks are not allowed on roads and roadways. Fireworks also can’t be shot from vehicles or near crowds of people.
The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department also noted that towns and cities may have their own ordinances. For example, the city of Enid does not allow fireworks within city limits.
