Governor Stitt and the Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department released the record-breaking economic report for 2022. Here is the summary:
Travel spending rose to a staggering $11.8 billion, a 12.3% increase from the previous record of $10.5 billion set in 2021.
The total number of visitors peaked at 18.3% in 2022, a 3.3% increase over the previous year. Visitors spent a total of $4.4 billion; 38% from Oklahoma and Tulsa counties alone.
$833 million in state and local tax revenue; an 8.4% increase over the previous year.
A 7% increase in travel earnings. Travel-generated earnings grew to $2.9 billion; an 11.7% or a $305 million increase from 2021.
72% of visitor spending came from out-of-state.
Visitor volume increased by 3% totaling 18.3 million visitors in 2022.
The state saw a 17% increase in out-of-state travelers totaling 11.5 million visitors; or 63% of total Oklahoma visitation.
There were 5,230 jobs added in 2022. Travel-generated employment increased to over 103,000; a 5.3% increase in employment from 2021.
