Julie Nelson with Hospice Circle of Love talks upcoming Walk to End Alzheimer’s
The Walk to End Alzheimers is coming soon on September 22nd. Walkers, donors, and everyone is welcome to the event. It will take place on the Enid Courthouse lawn, and start at 5:30 PM. At 6:00 PM, there will be a ceremony and the crowd will walk around the town square. The purpose of the walk is to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s. It affected 67,000 people in 2020, and has claimed 1,775 victims in 2019; which was a 178.2% increase from the year 2000. Participants will carry flowers to represent their tie to Alzheimer’s including caregivers, a patient of Alzheimer’s, and someone who has lost a loved one to the disease.
The Community Relations Director of the Hospice Circle of Love, Julie Nelson, recently had an interview with EnidLive. She stated how people are able to get involved with aiding this event, or future ones. As noted by Nelson, “You can go to enidwalk.org and it will pop right up with the information to donate or join a team, or you can make your own team.”
