Country singer Hannah Dasher will take the stage with Tennessee Jet at teh Stride Bank Center on Thursday, August 28.
In the meantime, Derek Darr talked with Dasher to talk about the concert!
In the interview, Dasher began by talking about her past, writing songs professionally in Nashville for BMG and Sony, and how she looks forward to the Oklahoma audience’s spirited enthusiasm for music.
“I’m a honky-tonk rock and roll act, [there’s] never a dull moment. I made a living for years in Nashville writing songs professionally at BMG and now at Sony…a little rock and roll, a little honky-tonk music, you might laugh, but we’re co-heading the bill with an Oklahoma guy, Tennessee Jett, who’s a dear friend of mine, another great songwriter, who’s had a great record recently. I’m looking forward to it.”
Hannah was shocked when her TikTok cooking series “Stand By Your Pan” blew up in 2020.
“My TikTok accidentally blew up on me over quarantine, and I needed a stage. And I knew that all the restaurants were shut down, and I was like ‘oh my gosh, folks my age don’t know how to cook, let me teach them,’ and Stand By Your Pan was born…we’ve got new content cracking out, new things coming down the hatch that we will announce then in August that I’m excited to share.”
Dasher wanted to share her inspiration for her retro style of music and how she pays homage to her grandmother.
“When my grandmother passed away, we’re a bunch of granddaughters, I got the last of the pickings and nobody wanted her retro furniture, so I had to get what was left over, I took it, made the most of it, and my girlfriends in high school made fun of me when they came to visit me when I moved to Nashville after college…I had people years later offer me a lot of money for the furniture, and I won’t let go of it, so it’s a thing now. Everybody thinks it’s cool to be vintage, but hell, I’ve been vintage as I [can] remember. So yeah, I’ve just embraced it, and, you know, it’s a scary gig to move to Nashville and chase your dreams, and so the kitchen I created, it kind of pays homage to my grandmother. When you walk in, it’s cozy, it’s safe, you’ve got these old retro white salt and pepper Tupperware shakers, and the avocado green Tupperware canisters…it’s just like walking back in time, and it strikes a chord with people.”
Hannah Dasher will perform at the Stride Bank Center with Tennessee Jet on August 28; doors open at 6:30 p.m. with showtime at 7:30 p.m.
