Enid’s 131st birthday was celebrated on Sept. 14 with the Cherokee Strip Parade in downtown Enid.
The parade tracked through downtown Enid from the Stride Bank Center to the front of the courthouse lawn on Randolph Ave., finishing on Independence St. Thousands of people from all over northwest Oklahoma stopped by Enid to celebrate this momentous occasion.
There were over 100 parade-goers with floats consisting of local businesses, organizations, marching bands, and many more! Most were tossing candy to the watchers; including Vance Air Force Base! We even had some members from the City of Enid Board and Commissioners, as well as Mayor David Mason, join in the parade. The iconic longhorns were leading the parade, as well as wranglers to keep track. The parade concluded with Fire Trucks from neighboring towns such as Lahoma, Pioneer, and Kremlin.
The Cherokee Strip Days Celebration is an annual event celebrating Enid’s establishment in 1893.
