On Tuesday, September 26th, a fatality collision occurred at 6:20 pm when the driver of a 1995 Ford F-150 driven by a 65-year-old Enid man lost control of his vehicle on E. Lake Hellums road on the East side of the intersection at N 16th St, before departing the roadway, the driver then tried to straighten out the vehicle before he struck a culvert, then sliding across N 16th St into an embankment.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Life EMS due to a head injury. It was determined that he was not wearing his seatbelt and was driving too fast for a gravel road. The incident was investigated by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The description of the wreck contains the opinion of the investigating officer.
