Sep 14 (Field Level Media) – Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension on Monday.
He was a finalist for the Jack Adams Award in 2024-25 and led the team to the Eastern Conference finals in 2025-26.
St. Louis, 51, has compiled a 163-155-47 record in the regular season since being named interim coach on Feb. 9, 2022.
“Marty has done a terrific job leading our young team,” general manager Kent Hughes said in a news release. “He is a great communicator and teacher. We look forward to his continued efforts to mold this group into a championship- caliber team.”
Since being promoted to head coach on June 1, 2022, St. Louis has guided Montreal to more points each successive season: 68 in 2022-23, 76 in 2023-24, 91 in 2024-25 and 106 last season.
The Canadiens open the preseason at Toronto on Saturday. They also begin the regular season on the road against the Maple Leafs on Sept. 29.
