Enid Police responded to an incident at the Walmart Supercenter on W. Garriot involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. 18-year-old Genaro Hernandez Diaz was run over by Gabriel Vega Casillas and suffered critical head, trunk, arm, and leg injuries. Diaz was taken by Life EMS to Integris Bass Baptist Hospital and later transported to OU Medical Center in OKC.
What happened was Casillas had just gotten off of work from Walmart, and his friends and co-workers were on his truck. Diaz was on the hood of his 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 and another co-worker was in his truck bed. Casillas allegedly entered his truck to leave, but his friends were still on the truck. As he was leaving, he looked back at his friend in the bed, but wasn’t checking for Diaz, and ran over him.
Casillas told officers his friends were just messing around. The incident still remains under investigation and no arrests were made.
