Oct 06 (Field Level Media) – Montreal Canadiens forward Ivan Demidov will be sidelined two-to-four weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday morning.
Demidov recorded his first points of the season by collecting a goal and an assist in Montreal’s 6-5 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. He sat out Monday’s practice due to what the team labeled as a therapy day.
Signed to an eight-year, $73.2-million contract extension that will begin next season, Demidov finished as a Calder Trophy finalist in 2025-26. He ended up tops in the NHL among rookies in assists (43), points (62) and power-play points (20) while playing in all 82 games.
Demidov, 20, has recorded 66 points (21 goals, 45 assists) in 86 career games since being selected fifth overall by the Canadiens in the 2024 NHL Draft.
