A Garfield County jury convicted 20-year-old Trevion Jaequon Malik Hartfield of one count of murder in the first degree and three counts of shooting with intent to kill.

The jury deliberated for about two hours before returning guilty verdicts on all counts for Hartfield and recommended a sentence of life imprisonment on the murder charge and 10 years on the remaining counts.

The charges came from two separate incidents. On April 9, 2025, Hartfield got into a physical altercation with Clayton Rowland, then fired multiple gunshots at Rowland and Damuras Porter while they were stopped in a vehicle. Neither victim sustained injuries. The next day, a second altercation occurred involving gunfire between Hartfield and Rowland, resulting in Rowland’s death. Rowland was 17 years old at the time.

Formal sentencing is set for Oct. 5, 2026, at 10 a.m.
