President Trump Declares Iran a ‘Failed Nation,’ Claims Credit for Israel’s Survival

President Donald Trump rhetorically struck out at Iran on Monday following an evening of renewed strikes in the region.
He declared on Truth Social that “Iran is officially a Failed Nation. IT IS DEAD!” He said the country “has no Navy,” “no Air Force,” “no currency,” and cannot pay its soldiers or police, citing 300% inflation and leadership he called “in total disarray and incapable of properly representing the country.”
President Trump went further than in past statements, accusing Tehran of killing more than 100,000 protesters and insisting its leaders “must be tried for war crimes against humanity,” while dismissing contrary reports as “FAKE NEWS.”
The post echoed comments the president had made the night before to Fox News’ Trey Yingst, when he argued in similar terms that Iran’s military capabilities had been dismantled entirely. In that interview, President Trump also argued that Iran’s strikes on Gulf states after the war began had backfired on Tehran, calling it “a very good thing” that Iran hit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait, since it cost Tehran the neutral stance those countries once held.
“Everybody was shocked. I was surprised,” he said, adding that had Iran possessed a nuclear weapon, “they would have fired it.”
President Trump also credited himself with Israel’s survival, saying “If I weren’t president, Israel would be gone. There would be no Israel, and there would probably be no Middle East,” and warned that the US or Europe could be next in Iran’s sights.
He shared an AI-generated video on Truth Social depicting a US pilot striking Iran’s Kharg Island oil facility, highlighting a warning of a “zero tolerance policy” toward any future Iranian attempt to mine the Strait of Hormuz.
