The City of Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners have passed three rezoning requests put forth by Plainsmen Holding, LLC for the purposes of Project Thunderbird.
All three rezoning requests passed with a 6-1 vote, with Ward 3 Commissioner Frank Baker being the lone “no” vote in all three decisions.
The rezoned land will impact two of the four potential campuses for the project, including locations near 42nd Street and 54th Street, Carrier Road and Phillips Road, as well as 16th Street and 30th Street. Two of the three rezoned areas of land will completely swap from agricultural to heavy industrial use, while the third rezoned area will only partially change to industrial use.
Project Thunderbird is a proposed plan by Plainsmen Holdings, LLC to place a data center and power corridor in Garfield County.
