The City of Enid Appoints Leroy Alsup as New Community Development Director

The City of Enid has announced that Leroy Alsup is the new Community Development Director who came into office on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

The Community Development Director’s job is to provide vision, planning, and oversight towards development and code assistance for the city, working with staff, the public, and boards & commissions.

According to City Manager Jerald Gilbert, Leroy’s capabilities are perfectly fit for the position.

“Leroy Alsup brings a wealth of experience and a proven record in municipal management and community planning,” Gilbert said. “I am confident that his leadership and knowledge will greatly contribute to and benefit the continued development of our community”

Alsup has over 44 years of municipal management and community development experience. Before this job, he served as the Community and Economic Development Director for McAlester, Oklahoma.

Alsup has three master’s degrees in public administration, business administration, and geography with a concentration in urban and regional planning. He has been a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) since 2001 by the International Economic Development Council.

Leroy has stated that he is “excited to join the City of Enid staff and is looking forward to serving Enid as Community Development Director and becoming actively involved in the diverse opportunities that the community offers for civic engagement.”
